For those of you new to Drama Kids, our after school program is specially designed to build self-confidence, as well as strong speaking and acting skills through the fun and creativity of drama.  We believe that enthusiastic students who speak out clearly and relate confidently with their peers develop skills that make the journey through life much easier. Above all, our drama classes are fast paced, great fun, and have new activities each week!

Best part of it, there's no stressful TRY-OUTS and no redundant rehearsals. Drama Kids is NOT a "production" company.  Instead, it provides students with FRESH, new curriculum each week, which eventually leads up to CONFIDENT students who are eager to show off what they have learned! 

All of our teachers are background checked (both criminal and sex offender reports are completed) and trained extensively through the Drama Kids curriculum.  Plus, all of our teachers have experience working with children and hold a MINIMUM of a Bachelors Degree.

Shirin Mitsis, MS, M.Ed., is the Director of Drama Kids for North Florida and holds Master’s degrees in both Counseling and Education. She has been involved in Community Theater across Florida for the past 16 years and completed some undergraduate coursework in theater at the University of Florida. She acted as a high school Guidance Counselor in Duval County prior to becoming the Director for Drama Kids, North Florida.

"What a pity you don't do it for adults!"

We moved to Nocatee in July and my children started the school year in new schools, not knowing anyone.  It has been especially difficult for my 6^th grader to make friends and adjust to school.  She has always been a little shy, but she was becoming more and more reserved in her new environment.  I had asked the school about after school activities and clubs and there has not been much to choose from, nor an activity that was of interest to her.  Until Drama Kids!  She really enjoys it and comes out of each class with a huge smile on her face.  The class is giving her a chance to be creative and have fun without fear of criticism or embarrassment.  She recently had to give oral presentations in her history and language arts classes and she said being involved with Drama Kids helped her not feel as nervous as she might have.  And she made A+ grades on both! Also, my younger daughter now says that Monday is her favorite day because of Drama Kids!

I was very fortunate to have speech and drama classes in school when I was younger.  The experiences I had with plays, speech tournaments, etc. helped make me a well-rounded young lady prepared for college and a future career.  As a Public Relations and Marketing professional, I firmly believe that speech and drama have played a huge role in my success.
