DKI is a natural fit for Director Chris Eckman who has spent the last 30 years teaching and coaching students to be their best selves. With undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Education and additional training in group dynamics and team building, Chris’s Interpersonal Style creates a welcoming environment for all students; A place where each child can utilize their skills to succeed beyond their expectations, while also being part of the creative and engaging DKI family.
Chris grew up dancing and excelling at acrobatics. As she raised her daughter, she found herself supporting her love of theatre in many behind the scenes roles. Chris went on to create and lead several (personal) character building drama programs. This is how she learned about the impact of Developmental Drama; using the vehicle of drama for the child’s personal development ~ How including all students and collaboratively working together for goals beyond the performance enhances each child’s experience. This is why she is so excited to offer DKI, because the curriculum is truly enriching for each student and the sum of the whole is even more fun as everyone develops their best selves together.
As a well-rounded performing artist, Liz is beyond excited to be a part of the Drama Kids family. Liz started her performing arts career at age 2; in her grandmother’s preschool dance class. She has since been a part of numerous productions, including several Award-Winning high school musicals and multiple Shakespeare plays.
As a Fine Arts Educator, Liz has taught dance, and led Shakespearian focused drama classes. She loves the behind the scenes work, as much as she loves the spotlight. Stage management, prop design and training in makeup and hair design add to her creative flair and fun. She looks forward to passing on her knowledge to the next generation of performing artists!
