Rachael Harrell is the director/owner of Drama Kids International of Northern Michigan. Rachael received her Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Roosevelt University in Chicago and worked as a professional actor for several years. After moving to Los Angeles in 2000, she worked with producer Mark Burnett on television shows like “Survivor” and “The Apprentice”, and also developed sit-com and drama pilots in a partnership with Warner Brothers. Later, she developed and produced many independent films with the company Perfect Weekend working closely with talented producers, directors, casting directors, and actors including co-production of a “tween” film called “The Greening of Whitney Brown” (starring Brooke Shields, Aidan Quinn, Kris Kristofferson and Sammi Hanratty). With a wide variety of dramatic experiences under her belt, Rachael is very proud to be able to share this amazing accredited program that develops confidence and creativity through drama with communities in northern Michigan.
Stacia Sexton (Ms. Stacia)
Stacia is a recent transplant from Atlanta, Georgia and has worked as a professional actor and teaching artist in regional theatres throughout the southeast. As well as teaching with Drama Kids, she also teaches and directs with the Old Town Playhouse Young Company, is a local company collaborator with Parallel 45 Theatre, and coaches students privately out of her home studio.
Melissa May (Ms. Melissa)
Melissa is a Traverse City native and has been involved with the performing arts for nearly 3 decades. She is a dance instructor and choreographer for the Old Town Playhouse Young Company; a theater instructor for Drama Kids International; choreographer for Mash Up Rock ‘n Roll Parody Troupe; and the Artistic Director of La Fleur Couture.
Katie got her start in theater here in Traverse City through her experiences at the Dance Center, the Old Town Playhouse, and Traverse City schools. Upon receiving her B.A. in Japanese Language and Culture from Wellesley College in 2014, she was awarded the Paul R. Barstow Award for Theatrical Excellence for her cumulative work with the Shakespeare Society, Wellesley Repertory Theatre, and the W.C.Theater Department. A dedicated member of the Traverse area theater community, Katie looks forward to sharing her passion and enthusiasm for theater with her Drama Kids students!

Lauren has recently moved back to her hometown of Traverse City. Lauren has a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology with a minor in Art and Design from Northern Michigan University, and was heavily involved in many extracurriculars while there including Campus Crusade for Christ. Lauren spent many summers working at Lake Ann Camp, in Lake Ann, MI in a multitude of positions including counselor, Program Director, Head Lifeguard, and Year Round Intern. She has worked with kids ages 7 to 70! Lauren is ecstatic to join the Drama Kids team with her unique blend of experiences and skills. She is excited to serve the community in such a fun way!
