About Drama Kids
About our classes
You are probably wondering what your child will experience in a Drama Kids class, and if it is the right choice for them.
For those of you new to Drama Kids, our program is specially designed to build self-confidence, as well as strong speaking and acting skills through the fun and creativity of drama. Above all, our drama classes are fast-paced, great fun, and have new activities each week!
Best part of it, is there are no stressful TRY-OUTS and no redundant rehearsals. Drama Kids is NOT a “production” company. Instead, it provides students with a FRESH, new curriculum each week, which eventually leads up to CONFIDENT students who are eager to show off what they have learned!
And “show off” we will. Several times each year, you will be invited to special Parent Demonstrations during class where the children will show you what skills they are working on.
Our year culminates with the annual Spring Performance in May. Each class performs an originally scripted play onstage for family and friends. At the end of the Spring Performance students are awarded ribbons or trophies based on the length of time in the program.
About our teachers
We hire very carefully. All of our teachers must pass a background check (both criminal and sex offender). Teachers receive extensive training in the Drama Kids curriculum and teaching methods. Our teachers have experience with children, as well as background in drama or the education field.
About our students
Drama is great for both “shy” and “outgoing” children. Drama can help introverted children develop their speaking skills and public confidence, provided that they are challenged at a pace that is comfortable and enjoyable for them. Often, parents find that, after participation in drama classes, their so-called “shy” child wasn’t introverted after all – they just needed the proper guidance from trained professionals to help “draw” them out. Drama can also create a positive focus and outlet for extroverted children as well as build their diction, projection and articulation skills.
About the time committment
One of the great things about Drama Kids is it only takes 1 hour per week. Because we are focused on the process for the majority of the year, your child can enjoy drama and acting without sacrificing time for homework and other activities.
