FAQs
Drama Kids of Stafford & Spotsylvania County FAQs
Have questions? Explore our frequently asked questions (FAQs) below for quick access to the most common questions about our drama classes. If you have questions that are not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
Enrollment
Can we enroll anytime, or do we have to wait for the next session?
Drama Kids of Stafford, Spotsylvania and surrounding areas has open enrollment! You can join anytime, except when we begin rehearsals for our Spring Showcase (around Spring Break). Enrollment then pauses until the next school year or our Summer Camps.
My child has never taken drama classes before. Are these classes good for beginners?
Absolutely. Our classes are designed for students of all experience levels, including complete beginners. Our teachers are trained to meet each child where they are—offering support when needed and providing challenges as they grow. We encourage families to give the program a full month so children have time to settle in, build confidence, and discover how much they enjoy drama.
Tuition & Payment
How much does it cost?
The tuition for Drama Kids of Stafford, Spotsylvania and surrounding areas will vary depending on the class type, generally ranging from $80 to $105 per month. We’re preparing to launch soon, and once registration officially opens, you’ll be able to view the exact price for each class directly on our registration page.
If we enroll after the session starts, do we still pay the full tuition or will tuition be prorated?
We prorate your child’s enrollment so you only pay for the remaining classes in the session. Your first payment is simply adjusted to match our regular monthly installment schedule, and then you continue with the standard monthly tuition moving forward.
Are there any additional fees?
There’s a $25 annual administrative fee per student to cover registration and administrative costs.
How do I update my credit card information?
The easiest and most secure way to update your credit card is through our parent portal. If you have trouble updating your card you can always call our office at 540-242-1542.
Do I have to pay the tuition all at once, or do you offer payment plans?
For convenience, our yearly tuition is divided into equal monthly installments. Each month’s payment is the same, regardless of how many class days fall within that month, because the full school‑year schedule is already built into the pricing. Monthly tuition also accounts for planned holidays and non‑school days.
If you’d like more details about how our installment plan works, feel free to email us at [email protected].
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes, we offer a 10% sibling discount.
What is your refund or withdrawal policy?
Tuition is non-refundable. If your child needs to withdraw mid-session, we ask for a two-week written notice before the first of the next month to avoid being charged for that month. Once notice is received and you receive a written response, future payments will be stopped and the card on file will no longer be billed.
Class Information
What happens in a typical class?
Our classes begin with fun introduction activities that prepare the students’ bodies, minds, and voices for their Drama Kids class. Then, in our speech component, students hone their articulation, projection, and volume control skills. In the creative movement portion, students implement postures, body language, and physical storytelling. In our main lessons, students perform short scenes (either scripted or improvised) to combine their speech and movement skills with their own creativity. Each class concludes with a high-energy concluding activity.
Do students perform a play at the end of the year?
We don’t present a traditional play. Instead, students prepare a Spring Showcase Presentation beginning after Spring Break. The showcase is a short, theatrical performance that highlights the skills they’ve built throughout the year. Every student receives a character and lines to memorize, and they work together in class to rehearse and perform for families at the end of the year. Please check your student’s class calendar for their specific showcase date.
Can parents observe classes?
To help all students feel comfortable participating, we don’t offer regular parent observation during weekly classes. However, families are invited into the classroom twice a year for our Fall and Spring Family Fun Day lessons, and again at the end of the school year for our Spring Showcase performances.
Will my child have the same teacher all year?
Yes. Barring unusual circumstances, your Drama Kids teacher remains with the class for the full school year.
What should my child wear or bring to class?
Comfy clothes and closed-toe shoes. We move a lot! Bring a labeled water bottle. For after-school programs, a nut-free snack is fine before class begins.
Do you follow school calendars and weather closures?
Yes. If the hosting school or community center closes due to weather or holidays, Drama Kids class will not meet. Families are notified by email or text.
What happens if my child misses a class?
If your child misses a class, they’re welcome to attend one of our community classes (if available) as a makeup session. Please contact us in advance so we can confirm that the community class is offering the same or a similar lesson to ensure a smooth experience.
My kid really loves to perform. Do you offer musical theater classes?
Musical theater classes in Stafford, Spotsylvania, or the surrounding areas are coming soon. These classes are part of our Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy, which we plan to introduce during Phase 2 of our launch in 2027.
Once Take 2 is available, students will be able to participate in musical theater–style performance classes, and most programs will require enrollment in a Creative Drama or Acting Academy class as well. We’ll share full details as we get closer to launching this exciting next phase.
Teachers & Safety
Are Drama Kids teachers background checked?
Yes. All teachers complete full background checks and receive specialized Drama Kids training before leading a class.
What are the student-teacher ratios?
We maintain smaller class sizes to ensure individual attention. Typically, one or two teachers per 18 students.
What if I’m running late for pick-up?
Please text or call your teacher. We understand delays happen and will keep your child safe until you arrive. There may be additional fees.
How is pick-up handled?
