After nearly six years of working as a supervisor at one of the busiest chain coffee shops, I found myself at a crossroads, feeling frustrated and unfulfilled. With my Bachelor’s degree complete, I was stuck working a job that did not provide me with any benefit other than a paycheck. It was during one of those restless days that I stumbled upon an opportunity with Drama Kids. Little did I know that this new chapter would not only reignite my passion for the arts but also transform my life in ways I could never have imagined.
A New Beginning
Having graduated from The University of South Florida with a degree in theater, I always knew I wanted to make a meaningful impact in the arts. I envisioned myself inspiring the next generation of performers, helping them find their voices, and fostering their creativity. When I discovered Drama Kids, it felt like a serendipitous moment—a chance to combine my love for theater with my desire to teach and nurture young talent.
Building Confidence and Happiness
Working with Drama Kids has been a life-changing experience. Each class I teach brings joy and excitement, not just to the children but to me as well. I have witnessed shy students transform into confident young adults, eager to express themselves. The growth I see in these kids constantly reminds me why I love what I do. It’s a privilege to be part of their journey, guiding them through not only improvisation, scene work, and character development, but their life journey too.
The Power of Community
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the community I’ve become a part of. Collaborating with like-minded individuals who share my passion for the arts has enriched my experience. Together, we create a supportive environment where creativity thrives. We celebrate each other’s successes, brainstorm new ideas, and continually inspire one another. This sense of camaraderie has not only bolstered my confidence but has also enhanced my happiness. Even on some of the hardest days, I know that I am supported by my Drama Kids family no matter what. I have found a sense of belonging within Drama Kids.
Teaching with Kindness and Passion
At Drama Kids, we prioritize kindness, creativity, and self-expression. Every class is infused with these values, making it a joy to teach. Seeing my students embrace their individuality and support one another is incredibly fulfilling. I strive to create a space where they feel safe to explore their creativity, take risks, and learn the power of collaboration. Each child brings their unique energy to the classroom, and together, we create something beautiful every single class.
A Life Transformed
Reflecting on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to work with Drama Kids. This experience has not only revitalized my career but has also transformed my outlook on life. I wake up excited to teach, to inspire, and towitness the magic that unfolds in each class. The joy I feel in my heart when I see a child light up during a performance or discover a new talent is beyond words.
Conclusion
Teaching with Drama Kids has been a special gift in my life, transforming my frustrations into fulfillment. I have found my place among a community of passionate individuals dedicated to nurturing the next generation. Each day is a reminderof the impact we can have on one another, and I am grateful to be part of this incredible journey. As I continue to teach, I am excited to see where this path leads, and I look forward to inspiring young minds for years to come.
