DRAMA KIDS ONLINE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Have questions? Explore our frequently asked questions (FAQs) below for quick access to the most common questions about our drama classes. If you have questions that are not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
Enrollment
Do we need to wait until the new session starts to enroll, or can we enroll today?
Drama Kids has open enrollment until we start rehearsals for Spring Showcases in late February. At that time, enrollment will close until we open again for the next school year session.
If we enroll after the session starts, do we still pay the full tuition or will tuition be prorated?
Tuition will be adjusted to exclude the previous classes your student did not attend.
Can my student try a class before I enroll?
Yes! Simply click register on the class you are interested in trying, and you will see the option of “Free Trial” after you have entered your information. The registration form will ask for payment information, but rest assured, you will not be charged until after your child has their free trial class and you inform us that they want to sign up. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of your request. If you have any trouble please call our office at 813-489-5899, and one of our representatives will be happy to assist you in setting up a trial class for your student.
My child has never taken a drama class before. Are these classes good for beginners?
Yes! Drama Kids teachers are excellent at meeting each child where they are. They can change their teaching style to adapt to any student by helping them when it is needed and challenging them when they are ready.
Payment
If I need to update my credit card information, how can I do that?
The easiest and most secure way to update your credit card is through our parent portal. You can visit our portal by clicking here. If you have trouble updating your card you can always call our office at 813-489-5899.
Do I have to pay the tuition all at once or do you have payment plans available?
Our yearly tuition is separated into monthly installments. You pay the same amount of tuition each month on the same day regardless of the number of classes in a month. We have done that math so that your child will always receive the full amount of weeks in the school year.
Pricing
How much does it cost?
Tuition costs are specific to each location due to each class’ unique schedule and the number of classes provided. You can find tuition prices listed next to each class. Find the right class for you here: “Class Schedule”.
Are there any additional costs besides tuition?
There is a $25 administrative fee per family each school year. This helps cover registration and administrative fees.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes, scholarships are available to those who qualify. An application process is required to determine eligibility. Please send an email to office@fldramakids.com to request a scholarship application.
Class Info
What do you do in each class?
Our classes begin with fun introduction activities that prepare the students’ bodies, minds, and voices for their Drama Kids class. Then, in our speech component, students hone their articulation, projection, and volume control skills. In the creative movement portion, students implement postures, body language, and physical storytelling. In our main lessons, students perform short scenes (either scripted or improvised) to combine their speech and movement skills with their own creativity. Each class concludes in a high-energy concluding activity.
Do students put on a play at the end of the school year?
At the end of the Spring Semester, students perform a Spring Showcase Presentation. This is a short, theatrical performance where students are given the chance to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned in class. Each student gets a character with lines to memorize and use teamwork to rehearse in class and perform for parents at the end of the year.
Can I watch class?
For the comfort of other students, Drama Kids does not allow parents to observe classes. However, families are welcomed into the classroom once in the Fall and once in the Spring for our Family Fun Favorites lessons and at the end of the school year to watch the Spring Showcases.
Will my student have the same teacher all year?
Yes. Barring extremely unusual circumstances, Drama Kids teachers instruct their classes for the duration of the school year.
Musical Theater Classes
My kid really loves to perform. Do you offer musical theater classes?
Absolutely! These classes are offered within our Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy held at our South Brandon community location.
What is the Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy?
Take 2 Performance Academy is a musical theater program that students take in addition to their weekly Drama Kids Creative Drama or Acting Academy class. For more information, click here or select “Take 2 Performance Class” under the “Class Schedule” menu.
Where is Take 2 Performance Academy located?
Rehearsals are held at our Brandon location: St Andrews UMC. During tech week, rehearsals move to HCC Brandon where the performances are also held.
Are there any prerequisites required to join the Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy?
ALL students in our Take 2 Performance Academy must also be registered in a weekly Drama Kids skills class, either Creative Drama or Acting Academy…NO exceptions. These weekly skills classes are crucial to the success of our shows as this is where our students receive the foundational skills needed to perform an amazing show.
How much does this musical theater program cost?
The program is $109 a month (the price does not include the cost of the required weekly skills class.) Tuition covers the price of the script, which is theirs to keep, and a show shirt!
Are there any additional costs to be in the musical?
We also ask that students source their own costumes and personal props, which might come at a small expense, but we encourage you to get creative and borrow/use what you have!
My child has never taken theater before. Is this musical program good for beginners?
Yes! Take 2 Performance Academy is the perfect introduction to musical theater. Because every student must take a weekly skills class in addition to this program, students learn and practice all of their basic acting and public speaking skills before entering rehearsal. Then, they bring those skills they have learned into rehearsal where instructors encourage student creativity when building a character and foster confidence through singing, dancing, and acting. Instructors never expect perfection and there is no right or wrong, only fun!

Workshop camps are for children who are interested in drama and acting but are not interested in performing. These camps explore different themes in a fun and interactive way and include take-home arts and crafts, improvisational scenes, games, and more! With so many themes, workshop camps are perfect for children of all ages and experience levels.
What are Performance Camps?
Performance camps are part of our Take 2 Performance Academy and offer the chance for children to perform in a musical. With acting, dancing, and singing, these camps can challenge children who have experience in theater while also presenting musical theater in a fun and easy to digest way for beginners.
Where are the summer camps located?
All summer camps are held at our main location in Brandon: St Andrews UMC. Performance camps move to HCC Brandon to perform the musical in a theater space.
