DRAMA KIDS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have questions? Explore our frequently asked questions (FAQs) below for quick access to the most common questions about our drama classes. If you have questions that are not answered here, please feel free to contact us.

Enrollment

Do we need to wait until the new session starts to enroll, or can we enroll today?

Drama Kids has open enrollment, so your student can be enrolled anytime during the school year until January 31. After that, our classes are locked as the students begin working on their Spring Play.

If we enroll after the session starts, do we still pay the full tuition or will tuition be prorated? Tuition will be prorated to exclude the previous classes your student did not attend.

Tuition will be prorated to exclude the previous classes your student did not attend.

Do we have to commit right away or is there a trial?

At Drama Kids, we have a 100% Money Back Policy on tuition for the first 24 hours of your child’s first class. If after your child attends their first class, they decide it’s not for them, you can call our office within 24 hours and we will refund your tuition, keeping only your registration fee.

Do I have to commit to four months?

If you choose to pay monthly, we do request a four-month minimum commitment. If you don’t think you are able to make that commitment, we suggest that you choose the quarterly payment option when enrolling in the fall. Parents who pay quarterly only commit to a quarter (8 weeks) at a time. In the spring semester, however, since our students are working on a play, the four-month commitment (until performance day) is required for all students regardless of payment schedule.

Payment

What payment options are available?

We offer four different payment options. Parents can pay MONTHLY (8 payments in a school year), QUARTERLY (4 payments in a school year), BY SEMESTER (2 discounted payments in a school year), or ANNUALLY (one discounted payment in a school year; BEST VALUE!).

If I need to update my credit card information, how can I do that?

The easiest and most secure way to update your credit card is through our parent portal. You can access our portal through our website. Look for the yellow button on the top right corner of our site. If you have trouble updating your card, you can always call our office at 706-320-1980.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

Tuition prices are listed next to each class page. While the listed tuition is Monthly, when you start the enrollment process, you will see additional options under “E-payment Schedule.”

Why does DK Acting Academy (6-12) cost more than DK Creative Drama (K-5)?

Acting Academy is a more advanced program for middle and high school students. It offers students two performance opportunities per school year. In addition, our Academy plays are longer and rehearsals require two teachers in the classroom.

Are there any additional costs besides tuition?

To cover the costs of registration and administration, a nominal fee is charged per student annually. Additionally, Drama Kids requests students’ families to provide simple (and inexpensive) costumes and props for the Spring Showcase.

Class Information

What do you do in each class?

Step into the Drama Kids world, where we kick off each class with a bang! First up, we have some super fun icebreakers that get our minds, bodies, and voices primed for action. Then, we dive into the speech segment, where our students sharpen their articulation, projection, and volume control. Our creative movement portion is where things start to get juicy. Here, students unleash their inner physical storytellers and master postures and body language. Next comes the main event, where students perform short, scripted, or improvised scenes that bring together their speech and movement skills with their unique creativity. Finally, we end each class on a high note with a high-energy concluding activity.

What if my child is too shy?

The program is great for all children. Our curriculum is designed in such a playful way that our students learn while having tons of fun with their friends. There is no pressure to be in the spotlight until the student is ready. Our activities focus on building strong speaking skills such as diction, projection, and articulation. As students grow in verbal communication and become more comfortable with the environment, they tend to flow with the rest of the class and participate freely in all activities. We have helped hundreds of students right here in our area and thousands around the world to overcome the fear of public speaking.

Do students put on a play at the end of the school year?

At the end of January, students start rehearsals for a Spring Performance. This is a short, theatrical performance where students are given the chance to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned in class. Each student gets a character with lines to memorize and uses teamwork to rehearse in class and perform for parents at the end of the year. Our final Spring Performance schedule with specific dates and times for each class is announced on February 15.

Can I watch a class?

At Drama Kids, we value the comfort of all students attending our classes. With this in mind, we kindly request that parents do not observe classes. Instead, we encourage families to join us later in the year when the children are more settled to attend our Parent Participation classes (in October and December) and Spring Performances (in April/May). This will allow them to fully immerse themselves in the experience.

Will my student have the same teacher all year?

Yes. In most cases, Drama Kids teachers instruct their classes during both the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year unless there are highly unusual circumstances.

Take 2 Musical Theatre

My kid really loves to perform. Do you offer musical theater classes?

At Drama Kids, we’re proud to offer our exclusive Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy, where we feature musical theatre classes.

Are there any prerequisites required to join the Drama Kids Take 2 Performance Academy?

To ensure the success of our shows, it is mandatory for all students enrolled in the Take 2 Performance Academy program to be registered in a DK Creative Drama or DK Acting Academy class – no exceptions. These classes provide the essential foundation and skills for our students to produce an incredible performance.
