Mrs. Rachel
Drama & Acting Teacher
Rachel earned her BA in Sociology from Indiana University knowing she wanted to pursue a career that enriched the lives of children. After 5 years in social services, she found her calling working with children with Autism as an ABA Therapist. Rachel was active in theatre throughout high school and college and had the privilege of working with some incredible directors who helped shape her into the woman she is today. Her favorite roles include Christine in “Phantom of the Opera”, Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Sheila in “The Boys Next Door”, and Bernice in “Don’t Hug Me.”
Rachel is the reigning Mrs. Indiana United States 2018 and represented the Hoosier State at the Mrs. United States Pageant in Orlando this past July where she placed in the top 20. She has also played the violin for 18 years and is the executive director for the Miss Great Lakes Scholarship Program. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her husband Cameron, go to the gym, ride horses, and explore what Northwest Indiana has to offer! Her goal for her students is to gain confidence, find their passion, and to have a safe space to be whoever they want to be!
Miss Missy
Lead Teacher
Miss Missy earned her masters of educational psychology from Ball State. Both her daughters were in theater throughout high school, with her youngest attending Drama Kids of NWI for several years. She has always had a passion for theater and now has joined our crew to help bring out the theatrical side of our students.
Ms. Linda
Drama & Acting Teacher
Hi, I’m looking forward to getting to know all the Drama Kids out there. My name is Ms Linda, and I can’t wait to help you take center stage and find your light. I am a retired music teacher from the Gary and East Chicago public schools. Before that I was always involve in the arts – either singing opera, performing musical theater, singing solos at churches, performing choral works, or soloing with an orchestra. Some of my favorite performances have been with the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Theatre at the Center, Light Opera Works, Pegasus Players, the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra, and Chorus Angelorum. I love cats, walking on Lake Michigan beaches, and working with kids.
Mrs. Joy
Drama & Acting Teacher
Ms. Joy discovered a camera when she was about a year old and that was that. She began modeling 6 months later and has never stopped loving the stage and the camera since. All through her life she has acted and modeled in varying roles and venues. Very early she found the catharsis and healing that the arts brought to her in hard times and decided she wanted to share that with others. She obtained her associates degree in Motion Picture Production from KD College in Dallas where she had the opportunity to study under Academy Award Winning and nominated film makers. Her dream is to one day have her own school and production company for childhood enrichment. In her free time she loves spending time with her little boy, writing screenplays and novels with her husband, exploring Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and constantly challenging herself to learning something new.
Miss Magy
Assistant Teacher
Magy graduated from Hebron High School and was in theatre for three years in addition to being the president of her thespian club. She has always had a passion for acting and joined Drama Kids of NWI to help kids in our community bring out their unique personalities, develop confidence, and learn acting skills for the stage.
