January 29 – June 20, 2024

Class Location: P.S. 183

All classes are from school dismissal through 5:45 pm. All classes will have a semester-end performance or showcase.

MONDAY

Grades K-1: Intro to Theater

Join us for different adventures each week! Blast into outer space one week and dive into the ocean to visit our underwater friends another week. Explore the wildlife of the jungle one day and make your own unique ice cream flavors another day. There is no limit to our imagination! Through different fun drama activities, we will hone students’ speech skills, presentation skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will learn beginning acting skills and build confidence as a performer. There will be a semester-end performance.

Grades 2-3: Intro to Theater

Want to build the tallest building in the world, meet aliens from distant planets, invent new lifesaving technologies, and have other fun adventures each week? Then join us! Through different fun drama activities, we will hone students’ speech skills, presentation skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will learn improvisation skills, beginning acting skills, and build confidence as a performer. Students will also work on short scenes that they create. There will be a semester-end performance.

Grades 4-5: Intro to Theater

Students will explore the world working in small groups to learn about different destinations around the world. Through our explorations, students will be introduced to playwriting and beginning acting skills. They will work together to write and perform their own short plays. Through this process, they will learn to develop interesting plots and characters, to negotiate and collaborate with each other, and to lead group discussions as the Director of the Day. While we continue to work on honing presentation skills, there will be greater emphasis on storytelling and characterization. There will be a semester-end performance.

TUESDAY

Grades K-1: Singing Stars

Have fun singing songs from today’s top pop artists, as well as popular Broadway and movie songs. Learn the basics of singing and gain confidence as a performer! There will be a semester-end performance.

Grades 2-3: Singing Stars

Have fun singing songs from today’s top pop artists, as well as popular Broadway and movie songs. Learn the basics of singing and gain confidence as a performer! There will be a semester-end performance.

WEDNESDAY

Grades K-1: Intro to Theater

Join us for different adventures each week as we explore undiscovered islands, time travel back to the time of the dinosaurs, make the world’s best candy, and many more fun experiences. There is no limit to our imagination! Through different fun drama activities, we will hone students’ speech skills, presentation skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will learn beginning acting skills and build confidence as a performer. There will be a semester-end performance.

Grades 2-3: Musical Theater

Join us for this introduction to musical theatre. Students will learn the different components of a musical and will sing, act, and dance their way to the stage! There will be a semester-end performance.

THURSDAY

Grades K-1: Costume & Prop Design

Costumes and props help to define a character. Come create new characters by making a different costume or prop each week and we will bring these characters to life through snippets and short scenes!
